Just Pretend It Never Happened: Kafka on the Shore

Is that the way to go about the painful experiences in your life? Pretend chunks of your life never existed? Sure, it is soothing and provides instant relief, but won’t it be better to keep remembering that pain, take those hard memories with us? I think so, those memories make us who we are, they complete us. I would like to forget a lot of things in my life, but I try not to.

Why am I having such thoughts? It is due to the amazing book “Kafka on the Shore” by Haruki Murakami. A wonderful book that also cradles my love for cats. But more importantly, it makes you rethink about the way you are living. It is said to be a complex book, it sure is, but I loved it. It’s beauty is in its complexity. So no, no matter how hard the situation is, you must live on, we don’t know the purpose of our lives or whether there is reincarnation or we live once or nine times, but sure, don’t let any experience go by in a blur, no matter how painful it is.
